SCRUBS FOR EPSOM & ST. HELIER
Mike & Nick
Mike, on the left - I’m 41, live in Epsom, married, no kids except my cars and motorbike and am (usually) a self-employed IT consultant.
My line of work is quite niche within the Retail sector. Dependent upon market conditions, hence not much work around right now as companies are fearful of spending too much on fancy new systems, when they're simply trying to survive. Usually that work can take me all over UK and Europe, living out of a suitcase in a random hotel somewhere !
It was clear at the start of this pandemic I'd have little to no chance of finding any paying work this year so began looking for something worthwhile to volunteer and devote some energy to. Trawling local Facebook groups, I came across the Scrubs group and volunteered to be a driver. I delivered fabric locally to the volunteer sewers, collected their finished items and dropped off completed orders at local hospitals, GP surgeries, etc.
There were about 12 drivers on the books, dotted all over from Morden to Fetcham, with an average of 4 out on any given day.
